First, there's a couple of ways to pull out the side kick. First, I'm going to demonstrate the basic side kick. I'm going to stay in a fighting stance. I'm going to first bring my knees up, pivot, and snap out with my bottom of my foot while twisting your hip, like this, and bringing it back. One more time. Knees up. And do the side kick. Now I have my partner with me. He's holding the shield target this time. And make sure it's about body level. And I'm going to stand in a fighting stance. Now there's a couple of ways to pull out the side kick. There's a regular side kick and also there's a skipping side kick or a hop side kick. So what we're going to do is practice our regular side kick. I'm going to bring my knees up slowly, and boom, try to kick the center of the target. And you can drop it down or bring it back. So I'm going to show a fast demonstration. One more time. Now the second side kick we can do is a hop step or skipping side kick. A skipping side kick, what you need to do is bring your back leg and skip forward while you raise your front leg up and throw a side kick. This way. So again, I'd like to show you on this side. My partner's holding it in the body section. Skip. This way. One more time. And that's how we do a side kick.

Side Kicks = Not a Muay Thai technique, but so what, it works! Man, I love throwing side kicks. They are a perfect technique to throw off of a missed body kick. They are powerful and a pain in the ass to defend. Especially if you aren't trained to defend them, which a lot of Muay Thai fighters aren't. Key points to remember: 1. Use your missed body kick to set it up! You can even miss the body kick on purpose to bait your opponent to rush in and get smashed with it! 2. Make sure you step behind your kicking leg with your support leg before you throw your kick! 3. Your leg will chamber up first, and THEN kick out. Two steps, not one! 4. Make sure to flex your instep as you kick. This will ensure that your foot is firm enough to take the impact and will also help with generating the power in your kick! Hope you guys enjoy it! Movies, commercials... even in kickboxing and martial arts classes! Here are three tips to help anyone learn how to side kick with more power and better balance. First off, I'm a big fan of proper body alignment. In fact, I think your body can teach you more than your instructor! Here are two questions to ask your body about the side kick... QUESTION 1: Should I kick sideways or towards my rear? Try this: Swing your leg forward and backward. Now side to side. Which feels better? QUESTION 2: Should I kick with my heel or the blade? Try this: Stomp on your heels. Now on the side of your foot actually, don't do that! It hurts! If your body is like mine, you just learned this about the side kick 1) A side kick is not executed to the side. 2) You should kick with the heel, not the side of your foot. The reason for both is simple— Your foot, knee, and hip deliver and receive pressure along the joints, not across them. Putting pressure across your ankle, knee, or hip is a surefire way to get injured. As a rule, the higher you kick, the more you should turn your body. Based on all that, here are three side kick tips direct from your body 1: Turn your support foot so the line of force runs along the foot, not across the foot. 2: Kick with the heel. When I kick with my heel, there’s bone and muscle behind it. 3: Get your butt in line. Align your glutes between your torso and the kicking foot. If you remember nothing else, remember this— aim your butt, kick their butt! The key to accomplishing all of this is in executing a full pivot. I leave the timing up to you. Just make sure that when your foot strikes the target, your body is in the same natural position as when you swing your leg and stomp your heel. The big lesson? Listen to your body. It can teach you a lot more than just how to side kick! :) THANKS FOR WATCHING! Side Kick komt met vrolijke en dansbare single ! Zo’n vijf jaar geleden maakte ons land voor het eerst kennis met de mannen van Side Kick. Deze rasechte Hagenezen konden toen echter al meer dan een kwart eeuw podiumervaring overleggen als entertainers. Side Kick bestaat uit de broers Ron en Fred die eerder gezamenlijk actief waren bij de formatie Only 4. Tijdens feestavonden schotelen de heren het publiek een breed repertoire voor: Van ballad, dance classics, reggae tot aan het vertrouwde Nederlandstalige feestwerk. Sinds de oprichting van Side Kick brengen zij ook singles op de markt. Stuk voor stuk tracks die garant staan voor op en top feest door heel het land. ‘Mooi wijfie’, Mooie billen’, Rokje hela hela’, ‘Den Haag leipe shit’, ze zijn gekend in het feestcircuit! Vorig jaar verschenen ‘Als ik jou zie staan’ en ‘Vlokken vallen’ van de mannen die bekend staan als een wervelwind die over elk podium trekt.
